Elite Company · The Dancehouse & Co.

The Core: The top of the program.

The Core is our elite competition team, where the studio’s standard is set. The most committed dancers, the most training, and the highest expectations we hold.

9 classes per week Weekly rehearsals Typically 3–5 routines Season runs July–May
Who The Core Is For

The honest fit

The Core is earned. These dancers train nine or more classes a week, lead by example in every room they enter, and compete at the top of their divisions. Excellence here is the baseline, not the goal.

The Core is the summit of the path that begins with Kickstart and runs through Fusion. Placement is by audition each May, judged by the same rubric as every team; the scores required are simply higher.

The Weekly Commitment

9 required classes, across three pillars

Classes build the dancer; rehearsals clean the routines. The Core dancers train every pillar, every week.

3

Classical

Ballet, Floor Barre, Pre-Pointe, Pointe, Legs & Lines

3

Jazz Technique

Cross Training, Turns & Leaps, Footwork, Jazz Progressions

3

Electives

Acro, Hip Hop, Jazz/Lyrical Combo, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Tap, Improv, and more

Plus weekly rehearsals: every routine has a dedicated 30-minute block; most are on Wednesdays, and a few run on Tuesdays back-to-back with those dancers’ classes. Your dancer is called only for their routines. Classes your dancer competes in count toward the pillar minimums; they are not extra. The minimums are the baseline, not the goal; dancers chasing scholarships and overalls consistently train beyond them.

The Standards

What we ask of every The Core family

Attendance is mandatory

Classes and rehearsals are required. Sick or truly unavoidable conflict? Contact us in advance so we can plan around it.

It is a full-season commitment

The Company runs July through May. Mid-season withdrawal leaves the family responsible for everything already fulfilled: taught choreography, ordered costumes, rehearsal fees through the withdrawal month, and event fees already paid.

We protect the culture

Gossip and drama have no place here, in person or online. If something is not working, come to us first; nearly every conflict is solved with one honest conversation.

Common Questions

Answered honestly

What does it take to make The Core?+
Audition scores at the elite tier across technical foundation, professional preparedness, grit, artistry, and versatility; and a training history that shows it. Core dancers were almost always training beyond their previous team’s minimum.
How much time does The Core take each week?+
Nine weekly classes plus Wednesday rehearsal blocks (30 minutes per routine). Plan on ten or more hours a week at the studio. This is the team for families building their schedule around dance.
How many routines do Core dancers compete?+
Most compete 3 to 5 routines, typically including solo work. Your commitment survey still applies; elite does not mean unlimited.
Is there anything above The Core?+
Within the studio, no; The Core is the standard-bearer. Beyond it, our Solo Artist track serves elite dancers 13+ whose outside commitments, like a high school dance team, need a lighter footprint. Ask us if that fits your dancer.
