The Company · Competitive Dance · St. Augustine, FL

Most studios raise dancers. We raise kids who don't quit.

Your child doesn't need another activity. They need a place that challenges their discipline, builds real confidence, and teaches them to do hard things in front of people (over and over) until hard stops feeling impossible. We use elite competitive dance to do exactly that.

The Real Reason You're Here

Let's be honest; this was never about pliés.

You don't lie awake at night hoping your child nails a pirouette. You worry about who they're becoming. Whether they'll have the grit to push through hard things (or quit the second it stops being fun). Whether they'll spend their childhood on a screen, or learn to work for something they actually care about.

"Competence without character is failure dressed up as success."

Most activities build the first and quietly ignore the second. And most dance studios make it worse: surprise invoices, disorganized communication, backstage drama, and a culture obsessed with trophies instead of the kid holding them. You're not looking for a hobby to fill an afternoon. You're looking for an environment that shapes character.

Why We Compete

It was never about the dancing

The trophies don't define your child. What changes them is everything it takes to earn one (and that work builds the traits intentional parents care about most).

Grit

Working the same correction for weeks and choosing to fix it instead of quitting.

Discipline

Showing up to train after a long school day, and practicing at home when no one is watching.

Poise under pressure

Standing in front of judges and hundreds of strangers (and giving everything anyway).

Resilience

Leaving a hard weekend asking the only question that matters: "What do I improve next time?"

Accountability

Teammates who hold each other to a standard, and a dancer who learns to lead themselves.

Follow-through

Finishing a full season they committed to (and discovering they're the kind of person who doesn't quit).

How We Do It

Four systems working on your child at once

In addition to teaching exceptional dance education, we built an environment where technique, character, confidence, and a drama-free experience reinforce each other every single week.

1

The Training System

Three pillars (classical, jazz technique, and electives) taught by full-time educators. Your dancer doesn't just learn routines; they build the strength, control, and versatility that make hard things look easy.

Weekly rehearsal notes and video critiques sent home

2

The Character System

Standards, corrections, attendance, and accountability (by design). This is where discipline, grit, and follow-through get built, because the dancer chooses to do the work consistently and without being asked.

Fair, rubric-based placement (earned, not assigned)

3

The Stage System

Two competitions and two conventions, included. Your child learns to perform under pressure, take class from a teacher they've never met, and grow from both the great weekends and the humbling ones.

Confidence that follows them into the rest of life

4

The Family Experience System

One flat fee that never changes. Custom couture costumes, fitted and altered in-studio. An admin team that actually answers your emails. No surprise invoices. No nickel-and-diming. No drama.

You know your number before you ever commit

What our families say

We've seen our two daughters grow into more inspired, disciplined, and resilient dancers (and humans). All the teachers lead well and teach clean, high-level technique while promoting an inclusive, encouraging, and supportive environment. We recently moved from L.A. to St. Augustine and discovered The Dancehouse through their CampXcel summer program. We've already seen our daughter grow so much; building friendships, finding community, and being challenged each day she's there. She especially loves her teachers, Mr. Harrison, Ms. Jayden, and Ms. Megan, who continually inspire and encourage her. We are truly grateful to have found such a positive and nurturing studio.

Who The Company is for

We'd rather tell you the truth than sign up a family that won't love it here.

This is for you if…

  • You want your child to learn discipline, grit, and how to do hard things.
  • You value character as much as technique.
  • You want one clear, predictable investment (not surprise invoices).
  • You want your dancer surrounded by serious, kind, accountable teammates.
  • You're ready to commit to a full, growth-filled season.

This isn't for you if…

  • You're looking for a casual, drop-in recreational class.
  • You only care about trophies, not who your child becomes.
  • A weekly rehearsal commitment doesn't fit your family right now.
  • You'd rather not have honest conversations when something's off.
Our Story

Why we built more than a dance studio.

I grew up in a pre-professional company where I was pushed to my limits. It was the most demanded acceleration of growth I'd ever experienced; a complete shift in standards and expectations that shaped me to this day. It gave me discipline, resilience, and the ability to set and chase big goals. Without those lessons, I would not be who I am today.

That's the power of elite training: it gives kids the same skill set that makes successful athletes, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Time management. Perseverance. Confidence under pressure. The ability to take feedback, adapt, and improve. These are skills that last a lifetime, far beyond the studio.

But here's what I also saw: skill without wisdom is dangerous. I watched as competitive standards bred gossip, comparison, and envy. I saw dancers win trophies but lose joy, talent without humility, excellence without character. And I knew I didn't want to build just another studio that produced technically brilliant dancers who weren't prepared to use their gifts for good.

That's why I started The Dancehouse & Co. Dance is the tool, but the mission is bigger. Yes, we train at a pre-professional level, holding dancers to the highest standards in technique, artistry, and performance. But more importantly, we are just as committed to wisdom: teaching our dancers how to work hard with humility, how to lead without arrogance, how to face adversity with grace, and how to put character before applause.

Because the truth is, the world doesn't need more performers. It needs leaders. It needs young people who can take the skills they've learned (discipline, grit, and the pursuit of excellence) and apply them with integrity, wisdom, and compassion. That's what sets our dancers apart.

Families tell us they feel the difference the moment they walk in the door. Not because we preach it, but because it's lived out in how we train, how we teach, and how we care for every dancer. This is more than a studio. It's a place where your child can grow into an exceptional dancer and an even better human.

Questions

Frequently asked

How do we join The Company, and when are auditions?+
Company auditions are held once a year, each May, and there's a small audition fee. Placement is by audition and scored on the same rubric for every dancer, so it's fair and consistent. The best first step any time of year is to download the handbook; you'll get the full picture, and we'll follow up with more information as audition season approaches.
What if my dancer has never competed before?+
That's completely fine; many of our dancers start here. Download the handbook to see how training and placement work, and we'll help you find the right path onto a company. Every season is a new audition and a new opportunity.
How much does it cost?+
Your Company Membership is one flat monthly fee, customized to how many routines your dancer is cast in, billed in 11 equal installments. The point is that you know your exact number before you ever commit (and it never changes mid-season). The handbook includes a calculator so you can find your dancer's exact number.
What's the time commitment?+
Weekly classes plus Wednesday rehearsals during the school year, with competitions and conventions across the season. Attendance matters because consistency is where the growth happens. Choreography is learned over the summer, and we build that schedule around your family's availability.
What if my child wants to quit halfway through?+
The Company is a full-season commitment, July through May; that's part of how we build follow-through and grit. We'd encourage you to think it through before joining. If a real conflict comes up, talk to us early; we'll always start with an honest conversation.
Do we have to travel a lot?+
Most events are local to St. Augustine, Jacksonville, and Daytona. Only our two Orlando competitions typically require an overnight stay; one of those varies depending on your dancer's schedule.
What's not included in my membership?+
Your membership covers the full competition season (rehearsals, choreography, custom costumes, entry fees, convention workshops, and more). A few personal costs fall outside it: dancewear and shoes, hair and makeup supplies, gas, hotels for the Orlando events, and food during competition weekends.
What's your culture like around drama?+
We hold a high standard for how we treat one another; gossip and negativity don't have a place here. Our ask is simple: if something isn't working, come to us. Nearly every conflict is solved with one honest conversation.
