The Company is our competition program for dancers ages 4 to 18. Whether you are brand new to competitive dance or switching studios, everything you need to know is right here.

How the Company works
At most recital studios, dancers learn one dance in class and perform it once at the end of the year. Here, class time is only for training. Routines are learned over the summer and cleaned in their own weekly rehearsals, and every routine performs at every event. A dancer in four routines is on stage about 20 times across the required events alone.
Competitions
Judged performances. Each routine is scored and ranked against others in its category, age and level. Most competitions run Friday through Sunday.
Conventions
A weekend of master classes with guest teachers. Dancers compete in class for scholarships, and our routines compete there, too.
Company Showcase
Our first performance of the season, every December. Every Company routine performs, so it is the first time families see the whole team on stage.

The Core
Our top team, for our most advanced and committed dancers. Most compete solo work.

Solo Artists (ages 13 and up): for elite dancers with big outside commitments, like a high school dance team. They take 3 classes a week, compete solos, duos or trios, and pick the events that fit their schedule. It is not a starting point and is not open to dancers under 13.

Classes and rehearsals
Classes
Weekly classes are where your dancer gets better. Every Company dancer trains in three areas: Classical (like Ballet), Jazz Technique (like Turns & Leaps) and Electives (like Acro or Contemporary).
Classes are grouped by level, not by team, so your dancer trains with dancers at their level. We never rehearse routines in class. Dancers also take a class in every style they compete, so an acro routine means an acro class.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are where routines get clean. Every routine has its own 30-minute rehearsal every week. Most are on Wednesdays, and a few run on Tuesdays right after those dancers' classes. Your dancer is only called for their own routines, and teachers post rehearsal notes and video every week, so you always know what happened.
Rehearsals are only for Company dancers.
How many classes each team takes
These are the minimums. Dancers going after scholarships and top placements usually take more.

Every event is required unless it says Optional. Optional events are for solos, duos and trios (and groups, if every dancer wants to go), and you sign up and pay for them separately.

Pays for your dancer's weekly classes, based on how many classes a week they take.

11 equal payments on the 15th, July through May
Covers everything competition-related: rehearsals, choreography and music, competition and convention fees, custom costumes, your Company jacket and earrings, and faculty travel. It depends on your dancer's routines, and it is set before the season starts.

Auditions are once a year, in May

The best way in is to take classes with us before auditions. Dancers who train here first walk in already knowing our teachers and what we expect. Your first week is free.
Before auditions, you tell us how many routines your family can do, in time and budget. Casting stays within what you tell us.
A panel of judges scores every dancer, and we average the scores so no one person decides. Placement is about readiness, not age, and every season is a new audition.
What we ask of every Company family
We would rather you know before you join than be surprised after.
Classes and rehearsals are required. If your dancer is sick or has a truly unavoidable conflict, contact us in advance so we can plan around it. Missing one day a week means missing a third of the training.
The Company runs July through May. If a dancer withdraws mid-season, the family remains responsible for everything already fulfilled: taught choreography, ordered costumes and jacket, rehearsal fees through the month of withdrawal, and event fees already paid.
Gossip, drama and negative talk have no place here, in person or online. If something is not working, come to us; nearly every conflict is solved with one honest conversation.
